We took a drive up to the foothills just about 30 minutes from our house this past weekend and found some beautiful fall scenery.

Stefan's robot room has evolved. He now has a big boy bed and a more graphic modern room with fun colors, textures and graphics. See bottom of the post for a list of suppliers. The posters are the ones I wrote about in the previous post .

As part of the party supply range on Etsy, here are some photos of the space party decorations. I did these for a friend's 5-year old recently and they got really creative with the food labels.

The past weekend I helped a friend with her son's 4th birthday party. She asked for a train theme and I decided to design and illustrate the train and then use it on all the different designs - banners, water bottles, cups, goodie bags and snack boxes.
Besides all that I offered to make the train cookies (to go in the goodie bags), the cupcakes, cupcake toppers and main cake with edible train topping. Although the baking part was hard and took a lot of time it was still fun to do and easy to keep everything uniform which can sometimes be hard if different people do different things. But it was a lot of work to finish in just a week's time (with two boys in tow) so maybe I'll just stick to the design part next time.
The train decorating package is available to buy here .

It's been a year since the Cat in the Hat party so of course we had another birthday to plan. Stefan loves animals especially sharks. So that is how the whole shark theme came about. Here are photos of the recent backyard party with lots of water fun in the back yard. How great is it to have a summer birthday!
I saw the paper mache jellyfish in an anthropology storefront a few weeks before the party and decided to make them for Very easy to make: tissue paper mixed with white glue and water, place over balloon. Once dry pop balloon and you're left with the shape.

This year I decided to get the boys involved in some gardening and although I have now idea how to do it we just planted a few seeds over Easter weekend and each day were so excited to see things grow. They watered it and took care of it and then the past weekend we finally planted it outside after digging up a small area in the yard. Hopefully they will do just as good as they did indoors but we'll have to hope and see. Between all the natural elements and the bunnies I'm not so sure...

We took the boys to the circus for the first time over the weekend. I love the circus. That is still one of my fondest memories as a child - going to the circus with my dad when I was about 6 years old. I have no photos of that night but it is still so clear in my mind (I can even remember what I was wearing!) and everything was just fantastic and fabulous. I have to be honest that although the show this weekend was great I still had those memories in my mind and was just a little let down in the end. Maybe because I was smaller back then everything just seemed so much bigger and larger than life. I saw that same look in my kid's eyes and hopefully it made an impression on them too. They were spellbound and so into it. Wish I could take a few more great photos but it was dark in there and had to keep my eyes on the boys too.

My friend asked me to make a birthday cake and cake pops for her 11-year old son recently. It was just a small party of 7 kids so I just baked a 13x9 rectangle cake and cut it to size and stacked a smaller rectangle on top and lathered it up with buttercream frosting before covering it with the fondant. I found a tutorial on how to make the camouflage fondant online and had a go. I used Oreo cookies for the wheels and chocolate dipped mini graham crackers (Back to Nature-brand) as the caterpillar tracks and chocolate covered pretzel stick for the main gun at the front. Then I also made some camo cake pops which was more what I'm used to. Not easy to impress a bunch of 11-year olds these days but apparently they loved it.
